WELCOME

On behalf of the Men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.,  Alpha Rho Chapter - seated on the historic campus of Morehouse College, we welcome you to our chapter website. As you explore our site, we implore you to take heed to words offered by a prominent and distinguished Morehouse and Alpha man, Brother Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "Intelligence plus character--that is the goal of true education. Education must enable one to sift and weigh evidence, to discern the true from the false, the real from the unreal, and the facts from the fiction."

-  Martin Luther King, Jr., The Purpose of Education

The genius of this fraternity and chapter lies in our acknowledgment of a universal ethic that governs our lives to become moral agents of change, advocates for the love of all mankind, and selfless servant-leaders and scholars. Our dear Fraternity is one that fosters the convergence of head and heart as well as praxis and passion. Alpha Phi Alpha is a brotherhood striving for excellence in every discipline.

It is our sincere hope that you find our website helpful, informative, and even inspiring. We wish you the best and hope that you continue to follow our quest to hold high the light of Alpha.

Sincerely,

The Alpha Rho Chapter

SPOTLIGHT

Devon Jerome Crawford was a senior philosophy major at Morehouse College. Devon has enjoyed many opportunities to further develop as a ministerial leader through multiple preaching opportunities, serving as a liturgist and worship planner, and providing public leadership as a social justice advocate in the cases of Troy Davis, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown in the Atlanta University Center. Devon has delivered sermons and spoken to numerous congregations across the country, in such places as Birmingham, Atlanta, and Chicago. His penchant for ministry and oration is evidenced by his having published three sermons in anthologies composed by the Academy of Young Preachers in the years 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Devon has served as president of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel Assistants program; vice president of the Alpha Rho chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; selected as one of four finalists for the English Speaking Union Luard Morse Scholarship; and has served as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation intern; and the 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar. His academic honors include membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key Honor Society. In November, Devon was named College Brother of the Year in Alpha Phi Alpha's Georgia District.
